Our Umpire Mentoring Program

We value our umpires – without them, we wouldn’t be able to play the game we love.
At East Gungahlin Netball Club, we’re committed to developing confident, skilled umpires through a structured pathway aligned with Netball Australia and Netball ACT guidelines. Our program combines education, practical experience, and mentoring to support progression from beginner through to becoming a C Badge candidate.

Stage 1

Stage 1: Beginner Umpire

  • Focus: Entry-level introduction to umpiring.
  • Key Skills: Rule knowledge, whistle technique, positioning basics, confidence.
  • Support: Mentor provides feedback after every game.

Stage 2: Developing Umpire

  • Focus: Intermediate skill-building and game management.
  • Key Skills: Communication, consistency, advantage application, teamwork.
  • Support: Coordinator ensures clinic attendance and observation sessions.
