What an amazing 2026 Winter Competition EGNC has had - so many new faces and so many returning faces too. The season may be coming to a close but the friendships, memories and team spirit stay with us forever. Thank you to all our players, coaches, managers, volunteers, and family members for making this season possible.

Not ready for the netball season to end? Neither are we!

Belconnen Netball Association has announced their 7-week Summer Competition, kicking off the week of Monday 12 October at the Charnwood Outdoor Netball Courts – Lhotsky Street, Charnwood.

Know someone who would like to give netball a try, keep on eye on the EGNC stack messages and Facebook page to share the summer comp details and invite them to join in for some summer sport fun!

SP Netball is coming back to Canberra Netball courts for the October School Holidays!

Join Australian Diamond Susan Pettitt and her team of coaches for a day of fun, working through all things netball, including ball skills, footwork, team work, attacking and defence, and a game of netball to finish the day!

Holiday School Clinic: 9:00am-12:00pm 6-14 year olds

Shooting Clinic: 12:15pm-1:15pm 9+ year olds

NetSetGo is Australia’s leading grassroots netball program, designed for children aged 5 to 10 to experience the joy of netball in a fun, safe, and welcoming environment.

Featuring three age-based phases, Net, Set and Go, the program offers tailored activities that focus on learning, participation, and inclusivity. It provides the perfect balance of fun, skill development, and friendship, helping young players build confidence both on and off the court.

At EGNC, we are fortunate to have four NetSetGo teams, with many players enjoying their first years of netball and discovering a love for the game.

Our NetSetGo Coordinator is passionate about developing confident, active children who will foster a lifelong love of team sport while building essential netball skills in a supportive team environment.

Our NetSetGo Coaches are equally committed to creating a positive and encouraging experience for every player. Through their enthusiasm, patience, and dedication, they help our young netballers build confidence, learn new skills, make friends, and most importantly, have fun while being part of a team.

�� Coach’s Corner

As we approach the end of another wonderful season at East Gungahlin Netball Club, many of our teams are preparing for semi-finals and, hopefully, grand finals.

This is an exciting time for our players, coaches and families. While everyone wants to perform well, it is important that we continue focusing on effort, teamwork, respect and enjoyment. Finals can bring extra nerves and pressure, particularly for younger players, so positive encouragement from parents and supporters makes an enormous difference.

Please remind your child that one game does not define their season. Every player should be proud of the improvement, resilience, friendships and memories they have developed throughout the year.

As we head into finals, we ask families to:

Encourage effort and teamwork rather than focusing only on the result.
Respect the decisions of umpires and officials.
Support all players and coaches with positive sideline behaviour.
Ensure players arrive on time, prepared and ready to warm up.
Celebrate the achievements of every team, regardless of the final score.

To our volunteer coaches and team managers, thank you for the many hours you have dedicated throughout the season. Your encouragement, patience and commitment have played an important role in every player’s development.

Good luck to all our teams competing in the finals. Play with confidence, support one another and, most importantly, enjoy the opportunity!

Club Highlights

The EGNC Gala Day is an annual club 'get together' that celebrates our club community.

The day will host multiple games, forming mixed teams across all ages to partake in friendly non scored enviroment. Our Gala Day is a great opportunity to build and strengthen our players connections.

We are also bringing back the 'Coaches game', where we ask coaches to don-a-patch and play, showing the club they've still got the moves on court. This actitivity had the club cheering with much excitment and laughter, that we just had to run it again.

We look foward to seeing you on the day.

Congratulations to Bronte on making her State League 17/U player debute this month.

Coaching – is a volunteer service – a fact frequently overlooked or taken for granted. At EGNC our coaches are inspiring mentors who combine technical knowledge with passion to boost player confidence and skill.

Coaching netball is about far more than teaching players how to pass, shoot, or defend - it’s about building confidence, teamwork, and resilience. A great netball coach creates an environment where players feel supported while also being challenged to improve

their skills and game understanding. Through clear communication, structured training, and encouragement, coaches help athletes develop both on and off the court. At its best, coaching netball inspires players to work together, trust their teammates, and

develop a lifelong love of the game.

THANK YOU - Our Fundraising BBQ was a great success and we thank all volunteers for donating their time on the day.

CNA provided their thanks for the high levels of engagement and horsepower EGNC applied throughout the day.

From the outset, EGNC set a cracking pace with setting up the courts and prepping the BBQ etc. for the day ahead. This continued throughout the day, with lots of hands, that kept the momentum and great vibe going, showing a strong representation by the club

overall.

Welcome to Season 2026

Welcome to all our new and returning EGNC players, families, coaches, umpires, managers and volunteers!

We are thrilled to have kicked off another exciting season of netball at East Gungahlin.

Our club continues to grow thanks to the passion, commitment and community spirit of our members. Whether this is your first season or your tenth, we are so glad to have you with us.

Club Highlights

We loved being part of the Woolworths NetSetGo Come & Play Day at the SolarHub ACT Netball Centre on Saturday 21 February hosted by Netball ACT!

It was wonderful to see so many 5–10 year olds on court enjoying fun skill activities and getting their first taste of netball, while families connected with local clubs and learned about the upcoming 2026 Winter Season.

Our stall was buzzing with activity, smiling faces, and plenty of interest from the local community, which provided a great opportunity for parents and guardians to chat with club representatives, ask questions, and learn more about what East Gungahlin Netball Club offers, including registration pathways and how to get ready for the 2026 Winter Season. These conversations are so important in helping families feel supported and connected as they begin (or continue) their netball journey.

We also appreciated the presence of Netball Australia, who provided valuable support and development opportunities for NetSetGo coaches on the day. This investment in coaching helps ensure our youngest players continue to enjoy high-quality, engaging sessions throughout the season.

Thank you to Netball ACT for hosting such a well-run event, and to all the families who stopped by to say hello. We loved meeting you and can’t wait to see many new faces on court in East Gungahlin colours soon!

A reminder to all families that the Stack Team App is the primary communication tool used by EGNC. We ask that all players and families ensure they are linked to their team via the app to stay up to date with important information throughout the season.

This year, a team chat has been created for every team, and we ask that this is used as the first point of communication between team families, coaches, and managers. The team chat allows for quick updates, game‑day information, and easy communication in one central place.

If you are not yet linked to your team on the Stack Team App, or if you need help accessing or using the app, please don’t hesitate to contact the club for assistance. We’re happy to help ensure everyone is connected and you are receiving important updates.

Thank you for helping us keep communication clear and running smoothly across the club.

Team Stack App

We are always looking for Team Managers across several teams. Team managers play a vital role in supporting coaches and players by helping with communication, weekly logistics, and game‑day coordination. It’s a fantastic way to stay involved, support your child’s team, and contribute to the smooth running of the season.

Beyond team roles, volunteers are always needed throughout the winter season to help with club activities such as canteen duty, BBQs and fundraising events. These roles are essential to the operation of the club and help keep fees affordable while building a strong, connected community.

Even giving a small amount of time makes a big difference. Volunteering is also a great way to meet other families, learn more about the club, and be part of what makes EGNC such a welcoming environment.

If you’re interested in helping out or would like more information about any role, please get in touch with the club committee. We’d love to hear from you and appreciate any support you can offer.

Together, we can ensure a positive and successful season for all our players.

Umpiring – a hard task and a fact frequently overlooked and taken for granted. Umpires are readily criticised for their decision and rarely often praised. The importance of umpiring upon the maintenance of a good standard of play can never be stressed too strongly. However in the long run, it is the efficiency of the umpiring which influences the standard of play. An umpire is an integral part of the game and can make or break it. We thank our umpires, those who are long standing, those who show up and progress week by week and of course those who are new to umpiring in 2026.

Developing umpires – EGNC places strong emphasis on developing our umpires. To ensure we have a suitable umpire at each game, EGNC will continue our umpire mentoring program, which provides a badged and experienced umpire at games to support new and evolving umpires, or to those wanting to gain further skills and development. Thank you to Jen M, Sophie W and Lara L for the many hours spent up-skilling our aspiring umpires, and a big thank you for continuing this program.

Badging – Congratulations to Miley J on gaining her C badge accreditation!! This is a demonstration of your commitment, ability, and knowledge. Well done! EGNC support ACT Netball in their long standing rule for “zero tolerance against all present on game day who might ridicule or intimidate an umpire”.

East Gungahlin Netball Club will be hosting the BBQ at the Lyneham netball courts on 30th May to raise funds for much needed equipment. Fundraising is a key channel to raise money in keeping fees low as previous equipment was supplied to the club by

genourous sponsors.

We are asking for help from our members to please fill 1 hour time slots for the BBQ roster. Please speak with your team manager for time availbility. Voulnteers are an integral part of our club that keep things running and we thank those who have alocated their time on the day.
